TA'AWUNU MEDIA PROGRAMME

By the programme of Jama'atu Ta'awunil Muslimeen (Society of Nigeria), there is need for Information (and or Communication) Revolution in Nigeria, because people only listen to "tailored' or "doctored" News that are meant to prejudice their thoughts and reasoning, and are cut off from independent information source- especially on the issue of Arab World, Islam and Political prostitution. And unless there is an alternative Information source, people would continue to eat the same poisonous cake.

Jama'atu Ta'awunil Muslimeen believes in three stages (which it outlines for itself and is undergoing) in undertaking and consolidating the Revolution, and those stages are given here under:

  • Establishment of Information Outfit that will at least provide Print Media alternative, either through provision of Internet Surfing opportunity to the truth seeking people or production of Pamphlets, Tabloids, Bulletin, Tracts, Magazines and related Information pieces.
And establishment, as a second leg, of Multi Media alternative that will be producing truth revealing Disks and tapes,
And establishment, as the third (and last leg of the stage), of Audio Information Outfit that will provide Electronics Media alternative (in its first level) either through engagement in Conventional Radio Broadcast or Internet Radio Broadcast/ Internet Streaming
  • Establishment of Audio- Visual Information Outfit that will provide Electronics Media alternative, either through engagement in TV (Television) operation or Cable Network Operation or in both.
  • Establishment of a widest coverage Audio-Visual Information Outfit that will engage itself in Satellite TV operation, as an alternative Information source.

Thus, the Organisation first established in 2005 QUDUS Islamic Information Center (which operates as a Cyber café, Computer Training Institute, Information and Communication Training Ground and Back up for AT- TAMKEEN Magazine), then in 2008 QUDUS Islamic Multi Media and in 2012 Qudus e Radio (the first Islamic Internet Radio Network – Subscriber- in Nigeria) to complete the first stage of the Information Revolution.

The Organisation has commenced effort in sustaining the second stage, as it has communicated its desire to liaise with the DSTV to secure, manage and operate Cable Channel. And its last stage of Information Revolution shall be attained when it floats its or subscribe to Satellite Channel very soon.

Executive Summary

Since the world now lives in Computer Age where Information Technology is fast growing, it behoves any civilized person or group of persons that wants or want to educate the masses to move at the pace of the Computer Age. And it is in the light of this that Jama'atu Ta'awunil Muslimeen (a corporate body having its headquarters in Iwo, South West of Nigeria) decides to "partner" with your honourable Company to achieve the third leg of its Information Revolution.

The Organisation has had Information Center, Multi Media Center and Subscriber- Internet Radio Network- the requirements of its first and second leg of Information Revolution, and is now ready to embark on the third leg, hence Cable/ Satellite TV Operation.

Since English language is Nigeria official language, and Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo Languages are the major dialects in the country, it will be wise of a civilized Information Outfit to employ all or many of the languages in its broadcast or web cast or streaming operation. And since it is a saying in our country that "for the world to understand you, speak the language of the world, and for your family to understand you, speak your dialect", and since our aim is to reach the world (especially African countries, America, Europe and the Arab World), our channel languages shall be Arabic, English, Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo Languages (and it is our conviction that with this, we shall be an hot cake in the consideration of our viewers through your satellite).

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Channel Justifications and Objectives
The objectives of the proposed channel will include but not limited to the following:
  • Creating distinctive Nigerian-based Islamic Programs that are capable of educating Nigerians (as well as African receivers or audience) about the ideals of Islam.
  • Acting as an interface to foster unity between the Muslims and the other Religionists generally, and to provide an all-reaching avenue to correct misconceptions (extremist views as well as adulterated views) about Islam, but alternatively enhance Islamic knowledge of Universality and Moderacy of Islamic teachings.
This is necessary as the understanding of a considerable number of Nigerian Muslims has been distorted- or better put, corrupt- as a result of westernization on the one hand and conflict (between various schools of thought and religious movements in the Arab and Islamic world) on the other, the resultant effect of which makes some groups deviate from Islam and thereby loss their identity and the other internalize extremist views and keep away from Islam moderate line. And as both groups will have a negative impact on the society, especially the youth, the launch of an Islamic Channel will not only contribute to correcting the misconceptions, but also enhance Islamic knowledge and help disseminate moderate Islamic teachings.
  • Highlighting the noble features of Islam and shedding light on the contributions of Islam, through the ages, to Civilization.
  • Promoting the true features of Islam (that is, the pristine Islam) and consequently removing the misconceptions and accusations against the Religion.
  • Creating the spirit of dialogue between individuals of the Ummah (Islamic Nation) and other religionists as practised by our pious predecessors, and thereby open channels of communication with Non-Muslims in all respect.
  • Introducing the West African Muslims in general and the Nigerian Muslim in particular to the outside world, most especially Arabian, European and American parts of the world.
  • Offering and or presenting recreational programs (which are free from indecency and or obscenity) for all members of the Muslim communities.
  • Providing wide variety of programs, including cultural, religious, social, educational, informative, documentary, political, economic and recreational programs, to the people generally.
Benefits of the Channel

The benefits accruable from the operation of the proposed Channel are very many, as observing critically, there is no Nigerian-based Channel (that is providing news, current affairs and entertainment programs from an Islamic perspective) on the DSTV, and this lacunae shall be filled by the proposed Channel "QUDUS" or "UMMAH" Cable- which will be casting in English, Arabic and local languages to appeal to its Muslims and non- Muslim audience within and outside Nigeria. Not only this, but will also have a lot of following in Nigeria and the other African countries, especially Muslims (and this will not only popularize more the DSTV, but will also open gate for financial growth/ strength). Again, as it is an innovative, there are bound to be a lot of other derivative benefits: financial and economic.
